Why study Design Engineering at Imperial?

Join a community of innovators

Immerse yourself in an environment of discovery and innovation as part of the Dyson School of Design Engineering, set up in 2014 to promote a new, user-centric style of engineering.

Try out your ideas

Test your entrepreneurial skills in our prestigious Venture Catalyst Challenge. You could follow in the footsteps of alumni who won an EarthShot Prize for their seaweed-based biodegradable alternative to plastic.

Access high-spec facilities

Turn your ideas into reality using industry-standard equipment for 3D-printing, robotics and electronics fabrication, wet lab work and rapid prototyping, and advanced workshops for metalworking and woodworking.

Find the right course for you

Our postgraduate courses cover a wide range of subjects and disciplines. Choose the one that best matches your interests and goals.

I’m proud to call myself an Imperial student. I believe the student community is a collective body of hard-working individuals who set a high calibre of quality, dedication, and passion towards research. I thrive in the courses that encourage us to constantly prototype and test with external users.
