Designed for ambitious students, our Undergraduate Summer Schools allow you to explore cutting-edge science, engineering and business while experiencing life at a world-leading university.

You’ll work alongside expert academics, take part in hands-on projects and connect with students from around the world. Along the way, you’ll develop valuable skills and the confidence to take the next step in your academic journey.

Chemistry Summer Schools

Build your fundamental understanding of the molecular world, and explore exciting interdisciplinary applications, where Chemistry, the central science, can make a major global impact. 

Expand your understanding of how Chemistry can explain the world and how you can apply it, through interactive teaching sessions and talks. 

Make, measure and model to enhance your skills in practical chemistry and use of programming and simulations. Then communicate your ideas about how chemistry can impact the world around us and make a difference to our global society. 

Data Science and AI

This exciting subject focuses on the interdisciplinary field of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), led by staff from the Data Science Institute (DSI).

Delivered in our August session, you will acquire essential skills in data analysis, along with the opportunity to work on real-world AI applications, through a combination of lectures, hands-on tutorials and group projects.

Engineering

This highly interactive subject will expose you to a variety of engineering disciplines. Through specialist workshops, lectures and seminars, you will develop key skills and work in groups to find solutions to current engineering challenges.

The programme will provide unique insight from Imperial academics with different engineering backgrounds, to help you understand the many applications of engineering in the real world.

Medicine and Life Sciences

Medicine and Life Sciences will introduce you to new research techniques and subject content. You will also gain hands-on clinical skills and learn from health professionals in practical clinical skills workshops.

In 2026, students will: 

  • 1) Encounter new concepts and systems in lecture-led teaching sessions. 
  • 2) Conduct practical experiments, collect and analyse data. 
  • 3) Spend a day learning real clinical skills.

Physics

The Physics Summer School is led by Professor David Colling and Dr Alexander Richards from Imperial’s Department of Physics. The Department is one of the largest in the UK with an outstanding reputation for excellence in research, undergraduate education and postgraduate training.

In this intensive subject, you will attend a series of lectures which will provide the fundamental background knowledge that will underpin the week’s work, whilst also experiencing first-hand lecturer-led teaching within a university physics environment. Suggested background reading prior to attending will be provided and is strongly encouraged, to help you grasp the new concepts that will be introduced.
